We compared three methods in terms of space, time, and safety (Example specs)
| 15 pairs of fixed dumbbells | Plate-loaded dumbbells | Dial dumbbell | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Footprint | Approx. 1.4㎡ (including rack) | Approx. 0.6㎡ | Approx. 0.2㎡ |
| Time to change weight | Switching weights | 30-60 sec | About 3 seconds |
| Weight increments | 15 levels | As many plates as you have | 15 levels |
| Sound | Clanking metal sound | Collar · Plate noise | Quietly in the tray |
| Max weight | Size of a rack | As long as the bar | 24kg per piece |
※ Example figures. Please write the actual measured values and how to measure.

This is the area required for the same 2.5-24kg range (example).

Dumbbells are always placed on the tray, reducing direct impact on the floor. Placing a 15mm rubber mat under the tray reduces both the noise of putting them down and floor dents (example).

This is the time it took to change from 8kg to 14kg (example).
While on the tray, adjust the dials on both ends to the desired weight and lift the handle; only the necessary plates will come up. The time spent loosening collars and loading plates is gone (example time).

For adjustable weight equipment, always check the locking mechanism first.
The remaining plates sit in the tray, which has separate slots for each plate. It only engages again when you put the handle down, so plates won't fall off during your workout.

The cheapest option is plate dumbbells. Consider the time to change plates and the space they take up.
※ This is an example price for a single 2.5~24kg dumbbell. Please replace it with the product's price compared to the actual selling price.
Based on one piece. Only 5 out of 15 levels are shown (example).
| Dial | Weight per pair | Total for both |
|---|---|---|

| 4 levels | 7 | 14 |
| 8 levels | 13 | 26 |
| 12 levels | 19 | 38 |
| 15 levels | 24 | 48 |

One box is about 14kg (Example). Please open it at the door and move them one by one.

When 12 reps with the same weight become easy, it's time to turn the dial one notch. The gap between levels is around 1.5kg, so your posture won't break even if you increase the weight. Below is an example bicep curl plan.
